These cliffs and the associated  resort beach attracted artists including <a title=\"Eug\u00e8ne  Boudin\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eug%C3%A8ne_Boudin\">Eug\u00e8ne Boudin<\/a>, <a title=\"Gustave  Courbet\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gustave_Courbet\">Gustave Courbet<\/a> and <a title=\"Claude Monet\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Claude_Monet\">Claude  Monet<\/a>, and were featured prominently in the 1909&#160;<a title=\"Ars\u00e8ne  Lupin\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ars%C3%A8ne_Lupin\">Ars\u00e8ne Lupin<\/a> novel <em><a title=\"The Hollow Needle (page does not exist)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=The_Hollow_Needle&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">The Hollow  Needle<\/a><\/em> by <a title=\"Maurice Leblanc\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maurice_Leblanc\">Maurice Leblanc<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the three famous arches seen from the town are the Porte  d&#8217;Aval, and the Porte d&#8217;Amont.
