{"id":39325,"date":"2015-05-12T12:09:44","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T11:09:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/smlp.co.uk\/blog\/?p=39325"},"modified":"2015-05-12T12:09:44","modified_gmt":"2015-05-12T11:09:44","slug":"penrhyn-castle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/smlp.co.uk\/blog\/2015\/05\/penrhyn-castle\/","title":{"rendered":"Penrhyn Castle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Penrhyn Castle by smlp.co.uk, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/biscuitsmlp\/17200761030\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8715\/17200761030_c6af363e21_z.jpg\" alt=\"Penrhyn Castle\" width=\"640\" height=\"138\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I few weeks ago me and the family got out the National Trust Map, picked a Castle within driving distance and set off. \u00a0Our destination was Penrhyn Castle in Llandegai, North Wales.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Penrhyn Castle by smlp.co.uk, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/biscuitsmlp\/17387987461\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7774\/17387987461_3306a2d025_n.jpg\" alt=\"Penrhyn Castle\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a> It was an amazing place to visit and to take pictures of. \u00a0The walk up to the Castle presented you with an eye full of a great building stamped into the amazing Welsh country side. \u00a0Being raised on\u00a0the door step to Northumberland where most of the Castle have been subject to a &#8220;difficult paper round&#8221; I was surprised\u00a0at the quality and condition of the building. \u00a0Built in 1438 then rebuilt in 1822 the structure is immaculate.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/youtu.be\/bX4cb9p1pGU<\/p>\n<p>As we entered the building the angelic sounds of a Harp echoed out from the main hall. \u00a0There is nothing quite like the sound of a Harp playing in an amazing great hall.<\/p>\n<p>One of the things that struck me while wondering the main building was the number of National Trust staff\/volunteers that were at hand to conduct the &#8220;learning&#8221; if you where so inclined to partake. \u00a0I however was visiting with a |touch everything| four year old and an excitable 1 year old so the educational part of the visit was instead replaced by the normal blind panic of parent running about shouting &#8220;don&#8217;t touch that&#8221;, &#8220;come back here&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Penrhyn Castle Fire Truck by smlp.co.uk, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/biscuitsmlp\/17200765140\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7659\/17200765140_9e76ee78be_z.jpg\" alt=\"Penrhyn Castle Fire Truck\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8751\/17180896747_6dc4c838c8_m.jpg\" alt=\"Penrhyn Castle\" width=\"359\" height=\"269\" \/>The grounds of the castle were great with loads of &#8220;off shoots&#8221; to wonder, a reasonable park and outside gym for the kids hidden away in the forest just off a small picnic area. \u00a0The castle also has an impressive railway museum and mini railway museum bang in the middle of the castle, very odd but very cool. \u00a0If anyone is looking for a great day out with the family in Wales\u00a0and want to let your\u00a0little princess feel like a real princess and your little man feel like the king of the Castle\u00a0Penrhyn Castle is a good shout.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Steam powered racing by smlp.co.uk, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/biscuitsmlp\/16584185663\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7667\/16584185663_43d692a331.jpg\" alt=\"Steam powered racing\" width=\"391\" height=\"293\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Source: <em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Penrhyn_Castle\">Penrhyn Castle &#8211; Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I few weeks ago me and the family got out the National Trust Map, picked a Castle within driving distance and set off. \u00a0Our destination was Penrhyn Castle in Llandegai, North Wales.
