A glass and a half of loss

Its been one of the greatest British brands for 186 Years. John Cadbury went from selling a hot chocolate drinks and turned it into a chocolate empire. Today the money men have given into greed and sold out to the cheese maker Kraft.
Lets just hope they don’t mess about with John’s chocolate genius and go all American on us.
I thought I would mark the passing of the end of a British institution; with a reminder of one of the reasons almost everybody in the UK loves Cadbury and it’s not just the chocolate:

NDCC: Re-design – Logo

For the people that have been following me on twitter for some time or know me in the real world; you will be aware that for the last few years my Girl and I have supported a charity Project Ryton2Ethiopia.

The charity that the project raises money for is the New Day Children’s Centre (charity no – 1117381) and it is in need of a new website.

I’m going to be pulling the site together but I’m not great at certain aspects of web design so I’m asking for help from you… Yes you.

The basics of the website will be a CMS (WordPress is looking like the best option) installation.  Also there will be some social network elements.  So the help that I will need will be around the theme design, logo design and also background designs for things like a twitter account etc.

The first thing to look at while I set up the WordPress installation is the Logo.

The basic brief for the Logo is that due to existing print material it would need to keep the similar design of the existing logo.

I think the best way to do this is to open it up to you.

Just download the image below; redesign and email back to me( phil (at) smlp .co.uk ).

I’ll update this page with each design as I get them; if everybody could comment below on ideas on what could be done with it or which design you prefer (Once I’ve put them up)

A big thank you for your time and help to everyone that has already offered to help.

Sweet and Sticky

Just a quick post for today due to Saturdays Night being a “My Girl” night.

With it being a “My Girl” night I thought I would share with you the Lush meal she just made for me.  Chicken soaked in Nandos Sweet and Sticky Marinade for 24 hours.  I would highly recommend it; but don’t forget your own home made flag.

Dr MakaMats

For today’s post I was trying to find some not very interesting facts to share with you all but ended up on a click through trip around Wikipedia looking at inventions and inventors.

Yoshiro Nakamatsu the inventor of the CD, DVD and Floppy disc also know as just “Dr. NakaMats”.  A man that I feel like I should already be aware of, due to his CD, DVD intention.  Today was in fact the first time I have ever heard of him and maybe the first time you have too.

With over 3000 inventions under his belt he is one cleaver but crazy man:

Most Useless Machine Ever

It’s day off time tomorrow so I figured I would make today’s blog post a nice and easy affair. What better way of trying to find some interesting crap on the internet than to cheat; just press the Stumble button attached to my web browser.

After a number of interesting videos and sites about fonts I came across “the most useless machine ever!” and found that I was completely fascinated and amused by it.

Full credit for this amazing find must goes to Erdëm GULTEKIN

The most useless machine ever!

If anyone know where I can get one please let me know.

Evenings entertainment – Legend

My entertainment for this evening the cult classic Film Legend.

I’ve always had fond memory’s of the film from being a kid most notably the image of the Devil in it has stuck with me.  Tim Curry as the Devil is without a shadow of a doubt how I would expect the evil man to look and sound if I was to meet him in person.

Every time I watch the film I notice something new about it like the first time I realised that Tom Cruise was the main character (after this he starred in Top Gun) or how visually impressive it is considering it was made back in 1985.

I’m no film geek; I don’t know the name of most actors or even the names of some films so don’t judge me when I tell you what I noticed for the first time today.  Tonight I noticed the Director of it…. The Great Ridley Scott.  Director of two of the best SiFi films ever made; first Alien then my favourite; Blade Runner.  He followed that up with Legend.

If you haven’t seen it yet do yourself  a favour and get over to play.com and order it…. Its worth the five English pounds they are asking then let me know what you think:

Let me introduce you to my boys

For Christmas this year my girl treated me to some new baby boys.  My very own carnivorous plants to grow into bloody thirsty killers.

I wish I could say that the picture above is a pictures of the boys so far; but unfortunately it isn’t.  As yet they have not shown there little faces they are just hiding under a thin layer of compost.  I planted them on New Year day so it going to be about another two weeks before I get to see what they looks like. I’ll keep you in the loop; but for now let me introduce you to the boys:

11/365

I’m already on my 11th day of my very own version of a post 365 and I though I would explain what the rules are.

I regularly post images to my site via my Flickr account and have done so for some time.  More recently I have started to post my You Tube clips and also AudioBoo’s to the site.  The problem I always have when it come to posting content; consistency.  At times I would fall into the habit of not posting anything for weeks at a time.  Its about time I set myself a challenge.  So the rules are simple…

  1. One Post per day minimum.
  2. Content can be any of the following
    • Video (No live streams)
    • Image with commentary
    • Audio
    • Written views or reviews
  3. Content must be recorded, taken or written on the day. (written commentary for video and image can be written later to allow for time restrictions)

Lets see how I get on.
